    Blaqk Audio @ St Andrews Hall ( Sept. 16th 2007 )

.... yeah, this show was several months back but I had posted about it on my last.fm page so I figure why not re-post over here as well. :)

Myself and a few friends showed up at St. Andrews Hall around 7:30 pm to the sounds of Pleasure Kitten spinning a set of mostly retro stuff ( with a few newer tracks like Ladytron, etc. ). I was pretty impressed with her selections. How often do you get to hear Flock Of Seagulls on a big sound system? heehee! ( my only complaint was that the club didn't do any kind of lighting for her set. So it was pretty low key as far as people getting into the music. )

Blaqk Audio came on around 8:45ish and Davey Havok and Jade Puget hit the stage in a ball of energy. Davey was all over the stage hamming it up for the screaming fans. I think by the second song in, he had lost his ear-piece and got tired of trying to put them back in! So... the rest of the show he just kinda went without, and still sounded dead-on most of the night. The music sounded very good with Jade triggering sounds from the keyboard rig. The stage set-up was pretty minimal. Just three keyboards a mac laptop and a big giant screen behind them for the very cool/trippy visuals going on.( During most of the set a large part of the crowd was sort-of swallowed up by the images going off... wich was very cool to watch from the balcony of St. Andrews! )

My only complaint was that their set was under an hour long and they didn't do any sort of encore. ( booooo! ) If I'm paying 30 bucks for a show ( after the service charge ) I want at least a good hour and a half to two hours of music! .... but all in all it was still a fun evening. :)

Highlight of the evening was hearing their cover version of Blur's Girls & Boys.  It was  definitely a cool  version of a classic track.
