I have seen these guys live and they are amazing. 1965 is a great album, very deep.

This band is amazing. They are responsible for keeping me sane during a very nasty relationship. Gentlemen is a work of pure genius.

    UGH! Terrible news...

For the Afghan Whigs, the long-distance relationship just wasn't working.

The soulful rockers, who formed 14 years ago while attending the University of Cincinnati, have called it quits after six albums.

"It was a blast," the band said in a statement issued Tuesday (February 6) through Columbia Records. "We'd like to thank everyone who took the ride with us and let us ride with them."

With the members living in different states different states for nine years, the "distance, which for so long kept the band fresh, began to work against them," the statement said.

Great band, passed over for not being grunge in early & mid 90's

One of the finest bands to come out of the 1990's. True musicians and very good people. The best Sub Pop had to offer.

RIP one of the finest bands to grace this earth. Grunge-y, soulful, sexy and dirty. Dirty, dirty Greg. Absolutely the best live band ever. Sorely missed.

This is not really the type of music that I listen to, so needless to say, I wasnt blown away. The one credit I will give this band is that they seem to contain a certain amount of creativity though.

Gentleman is one of the darkest theme albums of all time. It strikes a deep chord in me. See especially My Prison, Fountain and Fairfax.

Very good band, I loved the dark themes the songs contained. Especially crime influenced tunes which were influenced from Dulli reading James Ellory novels.
