The lyrics to Heavens Downward are so fitting. "I could lose myself in this..." How more aptly could I describe this. The biggest fault i find with their cd Tienken is the brevity of it. I am just floored by Heavens Downward and Waldorf Theft song. But other than Monlith and a few untitled ambient noisescapes, we are left to wonder what is on the horizon for this crew. It is dreamy, and trippy with a smattering of perfectly dis-affected female vocals

This is a really cool band. They definetly have that Euro sound that you just can't find on the radio these days.

Au Revoir Borealis Comments
Like many people in the Metro Detroit area, I first heard Au Revoir Borealis on the local radio show, "Big Sonic Heaven". I immediately began to scan the local independant cd stores for a cd, but apparently they didnt have any music in print. Well, I settled on what mp3's I could find and loved those, but more than anything wanted "Blissfield". After a long wait I finally got a copy of that on mp3 but the best news is that they have music available to purchase now, so I can finally get a legitimate copy of some of their material! This truly is a wonderful band and I am so proud to say they are from my town. :)

I met Steve and Mike back in their art-school days, and instantly recognized that they had great talent and aspirations. Here it is years later and they're doing exactly what they set out to do- making beautiful music. AuRB stands for all that music should be-eclectic, soulful and well crafted. It is always comes as a relief to see true artists dedicated to their craft and I wish them all the luck in the world!

I haven't had the opportunity to hear all of Tienken, but...Waldorf Theft Song is one of my all-time favorite songs. I can listen to it over and over again. If you haven't had the opportunity to check this out yet, I strongly recommend that you do. Discovering songs like this is what Auralgasms is all about.

sounds interesting - I must investigate more. Though I don't see the Sigur Ros comparison - more like kd lang (especially the first snippet on this site)

just wanted to pass this review on. It was written regarding AuRB's live show brodcasted from Royal Oak's 5th Ave Grill (96.3 DVD)Memorial Day weekend 2002.
"All of heaven came down last night at 5th Avenue in Royal Oak, MI. as Aurevoir Borealis sang their wares in orchestral fashion with masterful precision and artful grace. Smooth rhythms with soaring ribbons crying unearthly heights. Rich depths anchoring soul in solid heartful footings. Crashing, clashing, hammering beats of ferocious precision resonating hearts to captured unison. Sweet vocal lyric expressions leading bold charge to heaven’s gate to plea His grace. ....Heaven answered."
(I wouldn't put it any other way myself.)

I cannot recall the last time I have anticipated a full length release from a band this much. Their EP was astounding, and the 2 songs I have heard since, Say Agatha, and especially Blissfield leave me wanting more more more. If you can get your hands on Blissfield, you will be as enamored as me. C'mon with the full length guys!!!
