Asobi Seksu performing with Bettie Serveert on 03-27-04

I think that the music of Asobi Seksu is absolutely "magical".

When we think of a magician, the image that comes to mind is Merlin-long flowing white beard, cone-shaped hat-you know. Well in one account of this legendary and mythical character, this archetypal sorcerer retires. His reason? The rationalists are taking over. The time for magic is coming to an end. We'll ol' Merlin should have stuck around because those same old rationalists who tried to put a rope around reality, found themselves in the psychedelic land of physics, a land of quarks and gluons and neutrinos, a place that refuses to play by the Newtonian rules, that refuses to play by any rules at all-a place much better suited to the Merlins of this world. If there's nothing of substance in the world, if the ground we walk on is just a mirage, if reality itself really isn't, what are we left with? On what do we hang our hat?
The answer is "MAGIC"-the stuff not ruled by rational law.
I invite all of you to discover this "MAGIC" by watching Asobi Seksu in concert on March 27, 2004 at the following venue:

    Asobi Seksu
    Saturday, March 27
    w/Bettie Serveert
    @ The Mercury Lounge, NYC
    217 E. Houston St. (corner Ave A & Houston)
    9pm

Put a little bit of wildness and excitement in your life. Too ofter we have opted for the zoo where the lion can't eat you, instead of the jungle, where he can. Believe me, it is worth the risk.
