    The Brunettes

    The Brunettes

This band I can't recommend highly enough. They're a New Zealand indie pop duo who have been making music for several years, but they just had their Sub Pop debut "Structure and Cosmetics" released last month and they've been getting more US press as a result. The group specializes in lavish pop songs with melodic male-and-female vocals, alternately cute and melancholy lyrics, and complex arrangements. This is undoubtedly my favorite indie pop record of the year (or at least until the new Club 8 comes out), and it will appeal to fans of Peter Bjorn and John, Jens Lekman, and others in the currently thriving global indie pop community.

    Noteworthy tracks:
Her Hairagami Set [I would LOVE to hear this on Auralgasms radio, I have a feeling the chat room would go nuts for it]
    Credit Card Mail Order
Obligatory Road Song [another one that would fit well on Auralgasms]
    Small Town Crew
    Wall Poster Star
